I had always wanted to restore an old muscle car. I have owned many but they were always in good condition when i bought them. Being partial to Pontiacs, about 4 years ago I ran across a very rough 1969 Pontiac Firebird. I had my opportunity in front of me.

The rear quarter panels had rust, the engine pretty well shot, it had a ragged vinyl top and the headliner was lower than your head. The person I bought it from had spray painted most of the chrome with some aluminum colored paint. It takes all kinds you know.

The first 18 months I had it was spent in some shop or another. First the engine was pulled, sent to a machine shop in Johnston. Power disc brakes front brakes installed, electronic ignition, hooker headers, edelbrock 4 bbl, the car is almost new under the hood. The other owner had installed some kind of shag carpet and it was nasty, in went the original pile and a new headliner. Most of the chrome has been replaced and rubber.

I still have things I want to do to it but when and where do you stop????  I believe I would have to sell it to quit working on it. At the moment I want to have it repainted, the new existing paint job is poor at best, my opinion, lake pipes would be a nice touch, and the list goes on.
